Understanding how corals respond to a changing ocean

I am a coral reef ecologist interested in understanding how coral organisms, populations and reef communities respond to environmental change.

My research combines field observations, coral ecophysiology, experimental approaches and long-term ecological monitoring to investigate coral resilience, thermal stress, environmental memory, depth-related acclimation and reef health.

Research themes

My research explores coral responses to environmental variability from individual physiology to reef-scale ecological change.

Coral reef fieldwork

From extreme reefs to tropical islands

My research has taken me across coral reef systems in the Persian Gulf, Okinawa, Indonesia and Taiwan. These environments provide natural laboratories for understanding coral responses to environmental change.
